World War II · Select a marker to explore a ship
This map excludes vessels smaller than destroyers. Larger markers indicate higher recorded personnel losses; marker sizes use grouped ranges rather than a proportional scale.
The map contains 149 records. Positions and casualty figures may contain errors and should be checked against the linked sources.
Map compiled by Mr Lane using QGIS and qgis2web. Interactive mapping: Leaflet.
Ship information: Wikipedia and linked ship references, including For Posterity’s Sake. Each ship card includes the reference stored with that record.
Additional sinking-position data was taken from a wreck-recording website whose name is awaiting confirmation.
Ship photographs: see the individual photo credits for file-page sources, creators and recorded rights. Entries still requiring confirmation are marked.
